I'd like to write a novel...?

but my my job doesn't allow me the time I need to invest in such an undertaking. I have a strong portfolio of work and some great ideas. I would actually love to replace my job with writing, the problem is that I don't know how to take the first step towards making it my career. Does anyone know of any goverment grants or subsidies that can be used to support an author while they are writing their masterpiece.
