Does my ex still care about me?

so i thought i was over my ex boy and my first love but im not. we dated for almost 2 years and it ended pretty badly for me anyways. we had so many problems towards the end of our relationship and we took a break for ahwile then we started dating again after a week of the break. but then i didnt hear from him and i heard that he got a gf. i was crushed. he said he didnt know what else to do and that he still cares about me and he always will. i mean we were each ohters first loves and i dont think you ever get over it no matter who else you date. it just stink b.c we were go friends after the break uo and we would hang and he said he didnt want to loose me. but about 3 months ago he told me to leave him along in text and we havent talked since. i dont know why i said that i miss him as a friend. do you think he still cares about me?
