Can Pendrive become unreadable ?

I Have lost the data in my pendrive as it has become unreadable in any computer after i used it in my friend's desktop. the pendrive become very hot after i removed it from desktop, from then it is unreadable in any computer. what has happened to my Transcend 1 GB pen drive.
