RF900R 1996 suzuki carburetor problems!?

i have a rf 900 suzuki i took off the bowls and main jets to clean them and when i but the carbs back on it took forever to start and when it did it went straight to 5000rpm i let it run and it didnt go up or down all i touched was the bowl and main jet but the little gasket that is under the main jet was a little torn up but i know it sealed fine so then what could it be?
