Horse won't load on trailer?

I've got a nice sized 15.2 QH gelding. He's the perfect gentleman to load on a step up trailer. Well, we had to purchase a trailer with a RAMP due to finances. He absolutely refuses to get on. I've tried everything - food, the "I pull, you push" manuever, tapping him with a whip, lunging him for 30 minutes and then seeing if he wants to get on, keeping his dinner from him to coax him, etcetc. He won't budge, he absolutely hates the ramp. What do I do!? I've got a show on Saturday and he needs to get it together and get on. >.<
